Engineering and design capabilities are exceptional because of:
-
Firsthand design and manufacturing experience as a machinist and welder since
1963.
-
Field experience (installation, maintenance, and repair) with the products under
design.
-
Strong research, design and laboratory experience.
-
Biology background facilitates environmental and human factors engineering.
Leaving college, Mr. Sams started a company; Proko International (1976-1982).
This corporation specialized in designing and marketing recreational products.
Proko
would support its overseas suppliers with technology, market information, raw materials,
and tooling. Proko would then have exclusive access to these products for sale
within the U.S. Product included: Minolta binoculars, thermoelectric
refrigerators, Novurania inflatable boats, and diesel generators.
In 1979 Mr. Sams teamed with David Lehmann and formed Polar Products.
The
direction was to manufacture and distribute solar powered refrigerators.
For growth, Mr. Sams pursed other special aerospace and military cooling and power
system requirements. Eventually, these cooling and power applications over-shadowed the
solar refrigerator activities and the company re-organized into Polar Power, leaving the
solar refrigerator tooling and production with Mr. Lehmann and his company, Sea Freeze of
America.
